Our Inspiration
Find Your Pantry is a community initiative created and supported by Justice Necessary. In 2022, Justice Necessary commissioned a study to better understand and shed some light on the struggle of Coloradans to afford hygiene basics. We gathered responses from over 1,256 women in the state through an online survey conducted from August 15 through August 24, 2022. The study showed that 60% of women with children had struggled to purchase basic hygiene products (i.e., period products, diapers, wipes, and more) in the past 12 months. After considering these findings, we decided to create Find Your Pantry. We did this to ensure all Coloradans can easily locate not only healthy food, but also essential everyday items like personal toiletries, diapers and wipes, and period products. Find Your Pantry allows Coloradans to find nearby pantries with a breakdown of what each pantry has to offer—whether it’s food only or food and hygiene products.
A Resource Created for Our Community
Food and hygiene insecurity: We believe everyone deserves access to healthy food and quality hygiene products.
Financial hardships: We want to help individuals and families struggling to put food on the table and afford hygiene products—especially during difficult economic times.
Health concerns: Having access to pantry stock can help prevent infections, illnesses, and disease due to poor diet and/or lack of hygiene.
Dignity and self-esteem: Nobody should feel shame, embarrassment, or low self-esteem due to a lack of access to healthy foods or hygiene products.
Limited assistance: Pantries are a way to bridge the gap left by government programs like SNAP and WIC that do not cover hygiene products.
Our Manifesto
Times are tough. For many, accessing food and hygiene products is made even more challenging due to transportation, mobility, or availability issues. Our partners are dedicated to ensuring our neighbors have access to healthy food and basic hygiene products. Being able to find help quickly is everything when you’re struggling to make ends meet and feeling the pressure to choose between buying food or basic hygiene items. We want you to know you're not alone. Find Your Pantry lets you know where to find healthy food as well as essentials like diapers, personal toiletries, period products and more at no cost. Our goal is to make sure you have close, easy access so you can find what you need--fast. Find Your Pantry was created with love to help connect individuals and families with the items they need to feel nourished, clean, healthy, and dignified.
